About the position of Development Manager

The Development Manager will manage and liaise with software developers, supporting them in building industry-leading products using robust architectural practices and innovative solutions. Responsibilities include managing a team of permanent, contract, and outsourced developers to meet company goals.

This role includes acting as Scrum Master, mentoring the team, fostering a culture of ownership and excellence, ensuring quality and technical standards align with company strategy, and participating in coding and maintaining standards.

Applicants should have at least 5 years of relevant experience in managing web solutions, engaging with clients, and leading teams. The role involves organizing, supporting, and mentoring junior team members, managing vendor relationships, and working closely with the senior management team.

Operational responsibilities
  • Manage the UK IT & Development Operations budget.
  • Optimize operational models, including outsourcing partnerships.
  • Manage hosting suppliers and ensure SLA compliance.
Overall responsibilities
  • Manage IT & Development budgets.
  • Ensure GDPR compliance.
  • Manage relationships with cloud/hosting suppliers.
  • Define technical and product roadmaps.
  • Develop and evolve SaaS offerings.
  • Manage client and internal team relationships.
  • Produce innovative solutions within client guidelines.
  • Present and articulate technical work to clients.
  • Translate briefs from creative and scrum teams.
  • Lead, train, and monitor team performance.
Specific duties
  • Control IT & DevOps operations.
  • Run full production as Scrum Master.
  • Lead architecture, development, and mentorship, coding alongside teams.
  • Implement latest technologies and manage freelance/outsource teams.
  • Oversee IT systems, domains, and servers.
  • Create technical/product roadmaps.
  • Produce technical documentation and estimates.
  • Test work thoroughly to ensure quality.
Technical skills required
  • High-quality front/back-end coding skills (HTML5, CSS, JScript, .NET Core MVC, C#, PHP).
  • Experience with Umbraco/Sitecore CMS, WordPress.
  • Knowledge of MS SQL Server, Cloud SaaS, PaaS, IaaS.
  • Expertise in source control (GIT) and CI/CD with Azure DevOps.
  • Experience with CMS search technologies (Lucene, SOLR, Azure Search).
  • Knowledge of Azure platform and services.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Experience Manager and Marketo.
