Soft Services Supervisor

Leeds & York Partnership NHS Trust is seeking to recruit a Soft Services Supervisor, on a full-time basis, to join our Facilities team in York. This role will be worked on a rotational rota covering 5 out of 7 days. Facilities is a progressive and forward-thinking department looking for a self-motivated Soft Services Supervisor.

Main duties of the job

The role will work closely with Soft FM Team Leader to provide a cleaning and catering service, and implement best practice across the Soft FM department. The role is to have direct responsibility for the supervision of the domestic and catering teams in York. The postholder will be responsible for the completion of staff rotas to ensure there is always sufficient cover to deliver the standards set in the NHS National Standards of Healthcare Cleanliness 2025.

Job responsibilities

The post holder is responsible for establishing and maintaining effective communication with ward managers and administrators on all aspects of the domestic/catering service provision. To communicate with all domestic/catering assistants regarding the above provision. To communicate daily with the Soft FM Team Leader on all aspects appertaining to service provision. In conjunction with the Soft FM Team leader maintain communication links with the LYPFT Trust Estate Department regarding equipment faults, health and safety issues, incidents, etc. To ensure the cleanliness of the areas to which the person has been allocated is maintained to required standards by visiting all areas making a weekly thorough inspection with the aid of quality control sheets. To ensure work is carried out according to the work schedules and make temporary adjustments in cases of redecoration, infection, flooding, vandalism, etc. To ensure adequate cover to meet the allocated hours and priority of cleaning for wards/offices. To receive, check for repair and issue domestic/catering staff uniforms.

Person Specification Experience
  • Domestic/catering work within a hospital or similar environment.
  • Basic Supervisory experience of staff, i.e. training, basic sickness information for service provision.
Knowledge
  • Knowledge of a range of procedures including correct cleaning methods and maintaining equipment.
Skills
  • Self-confidence, a pleasant manner, and good communication skills are essential.
  • A full driving licence.
  • Access to suitable means of transport to enable travel between multiple sites in a timely or work efficient manner.
  • Empathy with all client groups to which services are provided.
Qualifications
  • Basic level 1 food hygiene certificate and working knowledge of food regeneration.
  • NVQ level 3 or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
