Wates is seeking a Social Value Manager to join our London Construction team, focusing on high-profile, technically complex projects across multiple sectors.

About the Role

Our Social Value Managers play a vital role in our business, responsible for managing the delivery of Social Value activities for each site or contract within the region. This includes ensuring project-specific social value plans are in place and aligned with the Wates Social Value Strategy and client requirements, enhancing our brand and leaving a lasting legacy.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Deliver SV KPIs and Section 106 requirements according to the social value plan, raising concerns if targets are not met within deadlines.
  2. Supervise regional Social Value Advisors (SVAs), supporting their KPI delivery and professional development.
  3. Collaborate with bid and proposal teams to ensure submissions meet requirements and deadlines.
  4. Manage social value data and evidence for reporting and audits.
  5. Produce reports for clients and frameworks, ensuring data is appropriately recorded on portals.
  6. Manage budgets for events and initiatives.
  7. Coordinate with Communications and Marketing to promote social value initiatives and create content for social media.
Qualifications and Skills

Candidates should have a strong understanding of Social Value within complex organizations, knowledge of relevant policies, acts, and delivery mechanisms, and familiarity with frameworks like TOMS. A qualification in Social Value, Sustainability, or Community Development is desirable, with experience in youth work, urban regeneration, or related initiatives.

Excellent communication, presentation, report writing, and project management skills are essential, along with the ability to build long-term professional relationships.
