We are looking for a Social Media Officer (Instagram and TikTok) to join our Communications and Engagement team.

Title:Social Media Officer (Instagram and TikTok)

Salary: £27,000 - £30,000per annum (dependent on experience)

Contract:12-month fixed-term contract

Hours: 35 per week (standard Anthony Nolan working hours)

Location:Hybrid, withhead office in Hampstead, London (2 days per week on-site)

Job Summary

We are transforming the way we communicate with our younger audiences and need a talented and creative Social Media Officer with experience of producing platform-first content for Instagram and TikTok. You will have the curiosity and drive to spot and share stories, jump on trends and bring new ideas.

You will build excellent relationships with teams across the charity to raise awareness of our lifesaving stem cell register, research and fundraising, and manage our youth-focused online communities to maximise engagement with young audiences.

This role reports into the Social Media Manager and works closely with the Digital Acquisition (register recruitment) and Marketing teams.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Leading on the creation of social-first content for TikTok and Instagram, including video and static content, to be used on organic and paid social media.
  • Identifying and maximising opportunities to join conversations on social and embed key messages and brand awareness, including using trends.
  • Managing and moderating our TikTok and Instagram communities, responding to inbound communications in a timely fashion.
  • Working closely with the Social Media, Digital Acquisition, and Marketing teams, building strong relationships and providing regular updates.
  • Supporting the Social Media Manager with delivering new test activity and evaluating the success of campaigns.
  • Identifying successful content themes and trends to inform future content, measure our impact and feedback to relevant stakeholders.
  • Proactively keeping up-to-date with issues, best practice, and the latest developments relevant to social media, Anthony Nolan, its partners and the charity sector.
  • Representing Anthony Nolan when communicating with audiences online, demonstrating empathy and judgement.


Essential Attributes:

  • Strong content production skills, including photo and video editing.
  • Strong understanding of what makes content successful - and experience of using trends to maximise reach.
  • Experience of managing social media platforms and communities.
  • Ability to anticipate and proactively seek out the content needs of the organisation for youth audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills.
  • An ability to prioritise a workload which includes project delivery, day-to-day activities and emerging opportunities.
  • A willingness to learn new processes and adapt to changing external factors.
  • A keen interest in and understanding of social media trends and a willingness to continually evolve and adapt to maximise opportunities to engage with a young audience.
