About The RoleWe're looking for a passionate and experienced Social Content Lead to shape and lead the social and content strategy for The Good, The Bad & The Rugby (GBR) and its expanding portfolio of brands. Reporting directly to the group's Head of Social, you'll be responsible for the end-to-end social execution of our weekly show, while also driving innovative, platform-specific campaigns that connect with rugby audiences in the UK and beyond.
This role is a dynamic blend of creative execution, leadership and strategic planning. Roughly 20% of time is dedicated to editing and design work, 50% to leading the team, briefing editors and designers, and managing workflow, and 30% to meetings, ideation, admin and planning - with a view to increasing this strategic component over time.
Key Responsibilities- Manage the day-to-day social schedule for The Good, The Bad and The Rugby, while advising on and supporting social strategies for emerging franchises such as GBRANZ and GBRSA.
- Develop and oversee a forward-thinking, ever-evolving social media strategy for the GBR family of brands, with a focus on audience growth, ambitious KPI overachievement, and maintaining market leadership.
- Act as a pioneer for new content ideas and format, both reactive and proactive, across diverse brands and concepts, contributing to brainstorms and ideating impactful brand campaigns.
- Stay abreast of evolving platform trends, tools, and features, translating insights into strategic advantages for the wider team.
Content Production
- Maintain high publishing standards by crafting engaging copy, designing compelling thumbnails, and producing graphics that drive audience engagement. Exhibit advanced skills in Adobe Premiere Pro and Photoshop for social content production.
- Attend shoots as needed to capture behind-the-scenes and real-time social content.
- Collaborate closely with design, production, and campaign teams to ensure seamless asset and campaign delivery.
- Partner with on-screen talent to coordinate content amplification across their personal platforms.
Metrics & Analytics
- Regularly analyse social performance metrics, delivering insights and actionable feedback to refine content strategy and output.
- Oversee performance tracking across all GBR pages, building a long-term social strategy that adapts to evolving social media trends and algorithm changes.
- Lead, mentor, and support members of the social team, fostering their growth and development.
- Manage workflows and oversee projects from ideation through to completion, ensuring efficient resource allocation and prioritisation.
Strategic thinker: Proven ability to develop innovative social media strategies across multiple platforms and brands.
Technical skills: Advanced expertise in Adobe Premiere Pro and Photoshop
Leadership: Proven experience leading and mentoring social or creative teams, managing workflows and overseeing projects through from ideation through to delivery
Performance-Driven: Strong analytical skills, comfortable interpreting social metrics to inform content optimisation and drive audience growth.
Rugby passion: A genuine enthusiasm for rugby and a strong understanding of the sport
