The RoleThe Social Care Worker will work within a respite service supporting autistic adults with complex needs. The role involves delivering person-centred supports in line with individual care plans, promoting independence, dignity, and community participation.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct support to individuals using a person-centred approach in line with individual support plans.
- Support daily living activities including personal care, routines, and skill development.
- Promote independence, choice, rights, and inclusion for individuals supported.
- Implement and contribute to the development of care plans and person-centred plans (PCPs).
- Support individuals to engage in community-based activities and build meaningful relationships.
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to documentation in line with organisational standards.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Ensure all supports are delivered in line with relevant legislation, policies, and best practice guidelines.
- Respond appropriately to the needs of individuals with complex support requirements.
- QQI Level 7 Degree in Social Care or Applied Social Care/Practice (or equivalent qualification recognised in Ireland).
- Eligibility for CORU registration as a Social Care Worker (or registration in progress).
- Alternatively, a relevant degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related discipline with at least 2 years' relevant experience in Social Care.
- Minimum of 6 months' recent experience working as a Social Care Worker supporting individuals with complex needs.
- Full, clean driving licence.
- Experience working within autism or disability services (desirable but essential in practice understanding of complex needs).
- Availability to work rostered shifts including evenings, weekends, and waking night duty.
- Full permission to work in Ireland.
- Strong understanding of social care legislation, regulations, and best practice.
- Knowledge of autism and person-centred approaches to support.
- Ability to implement and follow care plans and PCPs effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong initiative, reliability, and professionalism.
