Job Description
Smart Healthcare Technology Engineer (KTP Associate)

Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Communication Engineering

  • To review published material and conduct comprehensive research to gain an understanding of the state-of-the-art in smart sensor technology, IoT systems, and healthcare monitoring solutions.
  • To define the technical specifications and requirements for smart sensor mattress systems suitable for continuous health and well-being monitoring, working from appropriate healthcare standards.
  • To manage the selection and integration of advanced sensing technologies that support continuous data capture and analysis, ensuring high standards of accuracy, reliability, and seamless system integration in to the health sector.
  • To develop and implement wireless sensor network (WSN) infrastructure using appropriate IoT communication protocols with robust data transmission.
  • To create cloud integration solutions for remote data capture, storage, and real-time monitoring capabilities.
  • To design and create structural frames and components that support embedding the developed system.
  • To prepare and produce research reports, project progress reports, and technical documentation.
  • To manage KTP project budget monitoring and forecasting, ensuring efficient use of resources and timely reporting.
  • To ensure the implementation of the University's policies and regulations within the remit of the postholder's duties.
  • To participate in team meetings, committees, seminars, guest lectures and conferences as appropriate.
  • To undertake any other duties commensurate with the grade of the post that might be required as assigned by the academic and industry supervisors to support project success and knowledge transfer objectives

The project aims to transform Bodyease Limited's product portfolio by integrating smart/intelligent capabilities into their mattresses. This innovation will support the development of smart mattress systems that continuously capture and analyse key user data, enabling data driven insights to enhance health, comfort, safety, and overall wellbeing.

Key objectives of the role
  • Develop mechatronics based smart technology and embed it for healthcare-grade integration within mattress systems.
  • Develop IoT-enabled mechatronic product design with robust wireless communication infrastructure.
  • Create advanced healthcare data analytics for pattern recognition.
  • Implement Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning capabilities (ML) for predictive care management.
  • Develop market-ready smart mattress system prototypes.

The KTP Associate (Smart Healthcare Technology Engineer) will play a pivotal role in embedding advanced technical capabilities, including smart sensor technology, IoT systems development, healthcare data analytics, and AI/ML applications.
