About the RoleWe have an exciting opportunity for a Skilled Operative Level 2 to join the Norwich City Services Limited (NCSL) team on a fixed-term contract until 31 March 2027. If you have experience in labouring, property maintenance and waste clearance activities, are customer focused, and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, we would love to hear from you. This role is open to internal applicants only.
This position involves delivering a range of labouring and support services across Norwich City Council's domestic and commercial properties on behalf of NCSL. The role includes clearing void properties, removing trade waste, undertaking basic maintenance and repair tasks, preparing work areas, assisting skilled tradespeople, carrying out deliveries and collections of materials, and ensuring properties and sites are maintained to a high standard.
The successful candidate will work independently and as part of a team, supporting the efficient delivery of maintenance services while ensuring excellent customer service. Responsibilities include liaising with supervisors and scheduling teams, completing work using mobile technology, complying with health and safety legislation, carrying out risk assessments where required, and maintaining positive working relationships with customers, colleagues and stakeholders. The postholder will also contribute to continuous service improvement and uphold the values of Norwich City Services Ltd.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a labouring, maintenance or construction environment, a good understanding of health and safety requirements, and the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision. Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, problem-solving abilities and excellent communication skills are essential. Applicants must be able to work at heights and in confined spaces and hold a full UK driving licence. Desirable qualifications include Asbestos Awareness and CAT B Removal training, ladder training, experience using mobile workforce technology such as PDA devices, and knowledge of other construction trades.

- 25 days annual leave, rising by a day each year until 30 days is reached. Plus 8 bank holidays and a Christmas shut down period.
This role is for 37 hours per week, however, to support flexibility and promote an inclusive workplace, part-time hours or a job share arrangement will be considered.
