Job Description

MERITUS are recruiting for a Skilled Mechanical Fitter to join our client on an initial 12 month contract from their site in Henlow.

SKILLED MECHANICAL FITTER - INSIDE IR35 - £29.70 PER HOUR - 12 MONTHS - HENLOW, BEDFORDSHIRE - SINGLE STAGE INTERVIEW PROCESS - MUST HAVE NVQ LEVEL 3 & HNC/HND

An anonymous client is seeking a Skilled Mechanical Fitter to join their Live Build team. The role involves manufacturing, assembly, test, and inspection tasks to ensure products meet certification, quality, and delivery requirements within agreed budgets and timescales.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out assembly, inspection, and test activities in line with product certification procedures.

  • Certify and maintain product approval through compliance with audits and standards.

  • Apply a versatile skill base across a variety of manufacturing tasks using tools, gauges, and measuring equipment.

  • Ensure all build and inspection timescales are achieved while maintaining high-quality workmanship.

  • Complete all associated manufacturing documentation accurately.

  • Maintain compliance with health, safety, and environmental procedures.

  • Uphold housekeeping standards and contribute to a safe working environment.

  • Share best practices with colleagues and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Time-served apprenticeship or equivalent vocational qualifications (eg, NVQ Level 3, ONC/HNC, City & Guilds).

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing, mechanical fitting, or craft-based role.

  • Strong knowledge of assembly processes, tooling, and measuring instruments.

  • Ability to read and follow engineering drawings, layouts, and specifications.

  • High attention to detail with commitment to quality and safety standards.

  • Flexible and versatile skill set to support production, modification, and repair activities.
