Site Manager

About the Role:

We are looking for an experienced Freelance Site Manager to oversee a Section 278 highway works and hard landscaping package on a key civils scheme in Taunton. This is a hands-on, site-based role requiring strong coordination and leadership to ensure safe and efficient delivery of the works.

Key Responsibilities:

• Day-to-day management of site operations for 278 works and hard landscaping
• Supervise site teams and subcontractors to ensure work is delivered on time and to spec
• Liaise with the client, local authorities, and project stakeholders
• Manage health & safety compliance and site inductions
• Coordinate materials, plant, and logistics
• Maintain accurate site records, progress reports, and risk assessments

Requirements:

• Proven experience managing 278 works and hard landscaping projects
• Strong knowledge of highways specifications, street works, and public realm standards
• SMSTS certification essential
• CSCS card (Black or Gold preferred)
• First Aid at Work
• Strong communication, leadership, and reporting skills
• Ability to manage multiple trades and keep works progressing efficiently
