Job Description

Freedom Group is seeking a Site Manager to work from our Basildon office, supporting growing projects in the Essex area.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Survey work sites before, during, and after construction, including final re-measures, and report to the Project Manager.
  • Plan works in the field of expertise (Electrical/Civils).
  • Effectively plan and utilize staff resources.
  • Preview work areas prior to commencement.
  • Compile job packs for setting teams.
  • Conduct forward planning to identify future resource needs.
  • Compile and submit permits and PAIs.
  • Set staff to work and ensure compliance with procedures.
  • Manage H&S issues proactively, working closely with Project Management, Design, and Site Management to maintain a safe, incident-free environment.
  • Maintain awareness of H&S policies and updates relevant to your role.
  • Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations.
  • Motivate field staff to deliver high-quality work consistently.
  • Ensure all site documentation is complete and submitted to the project manager.
  • Ensure construction teams are equipped with necessary tools, including IT equipment and special tooling.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to develop project programmes that meet customer requirements.
  • Mentor and guide staff members.
  • Find creative solutions to resource or schedule issues to keep projects on track.
  • Report resource concerns proactively to avoid last-minute problems.
  • Inform the Project Manager of scope changes or design variations, especially if financially impactful.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience managing sites and field staff on high voltage cable, substation projects, or underground works.
  • Valid NRSWA certification.
  • IOSH Managing Safety or SMSTS, SSSTS certification.
  • Strong communication skills for client and customer interactions.
