For the position of Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse within the General Surgical Directorate on Ward 2 Gastroenterology ward at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Duration: 9.5 months fixed term maternity cover. If already employed at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals the role will be secondment.
Full time - 30 hours per week (days, nights, weekends). Permanent fixed term contract for 9 months fully rotational.
Responsibilities include managing a busy ward, supporting junior staff, providing hands on care, visible and approachable presence, supporting ward manager with general management duties, understanding factors affecting patient care, staff development, and compliance with Trust policies.
Candidate must demonstrate the ability to manage a busy ward on a daily basis using expert clinical knowledge and judgement, provide high quality care, support staff, and contribute to the ward manager's duties.
Qualifications- Registered Nurse
- Practice/supervisor assessor
- Ability to teach peers within clinical area
- Evidence of continuous professional development
- Experience of team and ward management as a Band 5 nurse
- Must have appropriate UK professional registration
- Disclosure and Barring Service check required (basic, standard or enhanced depending on role); applicant will repay the cost of the DBS check on appointment.
