Shift Manager

Salary: £72,369.60 (£60,000 base + £ 12,369.60 Shift Allowance)

Location: Fawley, Southampton


Fulltime - Shift Based - Permanent

As a Shift Manager at this Fawley site, you will play a key role in delivering safe, reliable and efficient operations in one of the UK's leading industrial gas facilities. What You'll Be Doing

You'll be the key point of leadership at one of the most important customer sites in a hands-on, frontline role. Not only will you be keeping the plant running by coordinating with the Remote Operations Centre, but you'll also lead the entire team; Guiding contractors and your colleagues through their tasks, making key decisions and ensuring communication flows clearly. Further to this you'll:

  • Lead by example; issuing permits to work, managing risk assessments and ensuring everyone on site is working safely and confidently.
  • Solve problems across the board, from mechanical faults to improving safety
  • React accordingly with top professionalism to different incidents, including planned shutdowns, unexpected incidents and more


Our Ideal Candidate

You might have taken a non-traditional path. Maybe you've worked on the tools, or maybe you've been in another type of manufacturing environment. What matters here is your readiness to lead, learn and make things better.

What you should have:

  • Completed an engineering apprenticeship (mechanical, electrical or process field) and have some decent experience on the job
  • Confidence in industrial or high-risk environments - petrochemical, utilities or gas is a bonus
  • A strong understanding of safety systems, such as risk assessments and Permit to Work processes
  • The ability to perform under pressure and be able to make decisions, leading people confidently in a shift-based, operational environment
  • Excellent communication skills - whether giving instructions or collaborating with remote control teams
