Job Description

Job Title: Settlements Analyst

Business Unit: Private Bank & Wealth Management

Location: Glasgow

Reporting to: Team Lead

About the Role

This position is within a leading wealth management and private banking environment, providing a range of investing, banking, and lending products alongside expert advice. The Settlements Analyst will be responsible for the day-to-day Back Office processing of settlements, supporting Front Office teams, and ensuring operational risk is minimised through strong process execution and adherence to market and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Match internal trade records against market/broker execution data and follow up on unmatched data with Front Office, Middle Office, and/or execution brokers.
  • Pre-match settlement instructions with clients' custodians.
  • Send out settlement instructions to custodians and follow up on unmatched instructions or failed trades.
  • Send trade confirmations.
  • Project funding requirements and request funding if necessary.
  • Send FX confirmations to correspondent banks and execute payments accordingly.
  • Resolve cash and security breaks.
  • Build a strong knowledge of domestic and local markets.
  • Apply knowledge of collateral and margins.
  • Perform operational controls relevant to the above processes.
  • Respond promptly to requests from Front Office, Middle Office, and external counterparties.
  • Suggest improvements to Back Office processes.
  • Assist in and test the release of new information systems.
  • Ensure that policies, procedures, best practices, and objectives set by management are followed.
  • Carry out other relevant ad-hoc duties assigned by management.

Skills and Experience Required

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in Back Office settlements within wealth management, private banking, or investment banking.
  • Knowledge in Fixed Income bond settlement and products such as CDs, ECPs, and new issues settlement.
  • Proficiency in SWIFT messages desirable.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organisational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Team-oriented with a proactive and analytical mindset.
  • Good knowledge of MS Office applications.

Education & Certifications

  • Degree-level education or equivalent experience in Finance, Economics, or a related discipline desirable but not essential.
  • Professional qualifications (eg, CISI Investment Operations Certificate) desirable but not essential.
