AboutThanet District Council are looking for an enthusiastic, conscientious and motivated individual to work within our Building Control Department.

The job purpose is- To deliver a high quality Building Control service to the public that is consistent and professional to ensure compliance with current legislation.
- Duties include processing Building Regulation applications, fee calculation, invoicing and checking validation, issue of related documentation.
- Manage Dangerous Structure notifications and registrations.
- To liaise with the public, external partner agencies and internal departments to increase effectiveness of regulation and enforcements.
- To acquire & maintain specialist expertise, relating to building control and the associated legislation.
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of Building Control legislation, processes and procedures are desirable although training will be provided to a suitable applicant.
Skills:
- Good communication skills are essential, together with the ability to provide excellent customer service and build professional relationships with service users.
- The ability to work with a team environment whilst being able to be focused on independent management of workload and goals.
- Good level of interpersonal and customer care skills.
Experience:
- Previous experience of working within the Built Environment or similar environment dealing with customers, the public and sensitive situations.
- Experience of administration within a highly competitive business environment would be advantageous and proven skills are essential.
