Salary: Starting Salary £30,804.00 Per Annum, with opportunity for progression to £34,236.00

Contractual hours: 37 Hours per Week

Thanet District Council are looking for an enthusiastic, conscientious and motivated individual to work within our Building Control Department.

The job purpose is
  • To deliver a high quality Building Control service to the public that is consistent and professional to ensure compliance with current legislation.
  • Duties include processing Building Regulation applications, fee calculation, invoicing and checking validation, issue of related documentation.
  • Manage Dangerous Structure notifications and registrations.
  • To liaise with the public, external partner agencies and internal departments to increase effectiveness of regulation and enforcements.
  • To acquire & maintain specialist expertise, relating to building control and the associated legislation.
Essential Requirements

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of Building Control legislation, processes and procedures are desirable although training will be provided to a suitable applicant.

Skills:

  • Good communication skills are essential, together with the ability to provide excellent customer service and build professional relationships with service users.
  • The ability to work with a team environment whilst being able to be focused on independent management of workload and goals.
  • Good level of interpersonal and customer care skills.

Experience:

  • Previous experience of working within the Built Environment or similar environment dealing with customers, the public and sensitive situations.
  • Experience of administration within a highly competitive business environment would be advantageous and proven skills are essential.
