Job Description

G7 - Autism , PDA and Gestalt Language Processor (Stage 4)

Days & Hours:

Approx. 32 hrs/week, rising to approx. 36 during school holidays.

  • Mon-Thurs: 7 hrs/day (28 hrs total) - e.g. 7-10am school prep/run/tidying; 1.45pm -5:45pm food prep and activities
  • Friday: approx. 4 hrs (flexible around Mum's work commitments)
  • Plus an average of 5 hrs/week weekend support (approx. 3 weekends per year, pooled by agreement)

  • 2+ years of SEN childcare experience
  • Full, clean UK driving licence with own car
  • Understanding of Autism and neurodivergent support needs
  • Calm, caring, honest, trustworthy, fun and nurturing
  • High reliability, given the parents' work commitments
  • Understanding and experience of PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance)
  • Confident cooking and batch-cooking nutritious meals for the whole family

  • A positive role model who helps both children build confidence in their own abilities
  • Support the morning routine from around 7am and complete the school run (drop-off and collection)
  • Prepare and give the children their tea, and support with homework
  • Support B9 with focus, confidence-building and celebrating his effort and progress
  • Support G7's communication and social skills, and her progress with reading, phonics and maths through play-based, structured activities
  • Use sensory circuits and calm, structured strategies to support G7 during moments of dysregulation
  • Maintain a calm, tidy home with toys and craft activities set up ready for after school, and plan engaging arts, crafts and baking activities
  • Prepare nutritious home-cooked meals and batch cook for the whole family; light household tasks such as ironing and tidying the children's areas
  • Provide occasional weekend cover (approx. 3 weekends per year) and ad-hoc evening support, arranged by mutual agreement
  • Liaise closely with parents on routines, progress and any therapy strategies (OT, SLT, tutoring)
