We're looking for a DfMA Engineer at either Senior or Lead level, depending on the skills and experience of the successful candidate. This is a key role within our team, focused on delivering innovative and efficient solutions in the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) sector. Crown House Technologies is the specialist MEP delivery unit of Laing O'Rourke, currently recruiting a Lead MEP DfMA Engineer to join the team.

Through DfMA, we are installing building services quicker, safer, and more sustainably. Using manufacturing systems in a controlled environment, we produce components of consistently high quality to a predictable schedule, leading to dependable financial control and a safer, more productive site with less congestion between trades.

What will the role look like?

1. Manage works associated with the integration and deployment of building services DfMA solutions on projects, from product development through to subcontractor management.
2. Implement DfMA Solutions to consultant designs and drawings to produce technically compliant DfMA Strategies, and interrogate designs and manufacturing drawings to ensure efficient information flow to our Manufacturing Facility.
3. Integrate the design process, understanding key design phases and how they fit into the overall project programme, considering the multi-disciplinary nature of design and its impact on DfMA works.
4. Actively contribute to the RDC (Request for Design Change) procedure for changes in design information of commonly used DfMA materials and identify optimal materials for use in engineering and construction projects.
5. Support work-winning activities by producing collaborative DfMA strategies and building DfMA Cost Plans.
6. Ensure DfMA Solutions are designed and delivered safely, with added value and efficiency.
7. Interpret principles of design, installation, and commissioning of building services systems and apply this knowledge in a DfMA setting.
8. Review and approve manufacturing drawings in line with exemplars and project-specific engineering requirements, ensuring comments are incorporated and manufacturing principles are applied in product design.
9. Review digital engineering models for project construction/logistics purposes (e.g., temporary works, sequence animation, site induction).
10. Inform the DfMA team of changes, mark up drawings with changes referencing documentation that verifies the change.
11. Help develop and influence site logistics plans for the delivery of DfMA products.

What skills & experience are we looking for?

• Passion and interest in DfMA
• HNC/HND/Degree in relevant engineering field, or equivalent skills and knowledge.
• Proficiency in BlueBeam, Microsoft Office Suite, Navisworks.
• At least 2 years as a DfMA Engineer (or equivalent), with a minimum of 5 years relevant technical and practical experience in engineering roles.
• Knowledge of construction methods, practices, and innovation improvements.
• For the Lead position, experience managing a team and leading performance. Strong collaboration and communication skills are essential for both roles.
