Job Description
Senior Waste & Environmental Compliance Consultant (EPA Licensing & Compliance)

Location: Ireland
Level: Senior Consultant
Sector: Environmental Consultancy

The Opportunity

An established environmental consultancy is seeking an experienced Senior Waste & Environmental Compliance Consultant with strong knowledge of EPA licensing and environmental regulatory compliance.

This is an excellent opportunity for a senior environmental professional with approximately 7-10+ years' experience who understands the practical requirements of Ireland's environmental regulatory framework and can confidently advise clients on Industrial Emissions (IE), IPC and Waste licensing, EPA reporting and ongoing licence compliance.

The role offers significant project ownership, direct client and regulator interaction, and the opportunity to work across a varied portfolio of waste, industrial and EPA-regulated facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and prepare Industrial Emissions, IPC and Waste licence applications, reviews and amendments.

  • Advise clients on ongoing EPA licence compliance and environmental regulatory requirements.

  • Prepare and review environmental compliance documentation and regulatory reports.

  • Support the preparation of Annual Environmental Reports (AERs) and other EPA reporting requirements.

  • Work on technical assessments and documentation including ELRAs, CRAMPs and PRTR reporting, where relevant.

  • Undertake or support environmental compliance audits of licensed facilities.

  • Review licence conditions and advise clients on actions required to maintain compliance.

  • Assist clients in responding to EPA queries, requests for information and compliance matters.

  • Liaise directly with the EPA, clients and other regulatory stakeholders.

  • Support environmental monitoring, incident and non-compliance management and corrective actions where required.

  • Manage projects, budgets, deadlines and client relationships.

  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior consultants.

  • Contribute to proposals, business development and the continued growth of the environmental compliance service.

About You

You will ideally have:

  • Approximately 7-10 years' relevant environmental experience.

  • Strong knowledge of EPA-regulated facilities and Irish environmental legislation.

  • Practical experience with IE, IPC and/or Waste licensing.

  • Experience preparing EPA reports and managing ongoing environmental compliance requirements.

  • Familiarity with AER, PRTR, ELRA, CRAMP and related environmental compliance documentation would be highly advantageous.

  • Experience conducting environmental compliance audits or advising licensed facilities.

  • Confidence dealing directly with clients, regulators and multidisciplinary project teams.

  • Strong technical report-writing and project management skills.

  • A relevant degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, waste management or a related discipline.

Experience within environmental consultancy would be valuable, but candidates coming from industry or an EPA-licensed facility with strong hands-on licensing and compliance experience are also highly relevant.

Why Consider This Role?

This position offers the opportunity to:

  • Become a senior technical resource in EPA licensing and environmental compliance.

  • Take ownership of projects and work directly with clients and regulators.

  • Work across a varied portfolio of waste, industrial and EPA-regulated facilities.

  • Gain broader exposure than may be available within a single licensed site or organisation.

  • Combine technical work with project management, client advisory and mentoring responsibilities.

  • Work alongside experienced environmental specialists within an established consultancy.

  • Have genuine input into the continued development of the company's environmental compliance offering.

This role would particularly suit someone who enjoys the technical and regulatory side of environmental work and wants greater variety, autonomy and client exposure in their next move.
