This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative and supportive team where you'll play a key role in managing projects from inception through to completion, working with a wide range of private and public sector clients. The Role
As a Senior Transport Planner, you'll be responsible for managing multiple transport planning projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget and to a high technical standard. You'll work closely with clients, planning authorities and multidisciplinary project teams to provide practical transport solutions that support a variety of residential, commercial, industrial and mixed-use developments.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing transport planning projects throughout the planning and development process.
- Producing, reviewing and approving technical documents including Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, Travel Plans, Technical Notes and supporting planning reports.
- Preparing and reviewing technical drawings such as access layouts, visibility splays, junction designs and vehicle tracking plans.
- Using industry-standard transport modelling software to assess traffic generation, distribution and highway impacts.
- Developing evidence for planning appeals, including Statements of Case and Statements of Common Ground.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, local authorities, developers and other project stakeholders.
- Attending client meetings, public consultation events, design team meetings and discussions with Local Highway Authorities.
- Preparing fee proposals, quotations and tender submissions to support business development.
- Providing guidance, mentoring and technical support to junior members of the transport planning team.
- Supporting Directors with project delivery, resource planning and the ongoing development of the transport planning service.
What We're Looking For
To be successful in this role, you'll ideally have:
- A degree in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography or another relevant discipline.
- Around five years or more of transport planning experience within a consultancy environment.
- Membership (or working towards membership) of a relevant professional institution.
- A strong understanding of UK transport planning policy, guidance and design standards.
- Experience preparing technical reports to support planning applications.
- Knowledge of transport modelling software and traffic forecasting methodologies.
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication skills with confidence liaising with clients, local authorities and multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience mentoring or supervising junior colleagues would be advantageous.

Salary: Competitive, depending on experience
Working Hours: Monday-Friday, 9:00am-17:00pm.
