An excellent opportunity has arisen to joinWestmorland and Furness Council's Technical Services team as aSenior Technical Services Officer, supporting the smooth andefficient operation of our Planning, Building Control, and StreetNaming & Numbering services.
The Technical Services team providesessential administrative and technical support across theCouncil's regulatory functions; ensuring that applications,records, and data are accurate, accessible, and processedefficiently. This vital work underpins the effective delivery ofplanning and building control decisions, helping to ensuretransparency, compliance, and high standards of publicservice.
As a Senior Technical Services Officer,you'll play a key role in delivering high-quality technical andadministrative support. You'll handle complex casework, check andvalidate applications, oversee data accuracy, and provideguidance to junior colleagues. Working closely with planningofficers, surveyors, and service leads, you'll help streamlineprocesses, ensure compliance with statutory requirements, andsupport continuous improvement across the service.
This is a varied and rewarding role forsomeone who enjoys working in a detail-oriented, fast-pacedenvironment and takes pride in delivering excellent customerservice. You'll be part of a supportive and collaborative teamcommitted to helping shape the growth and development ofWestmorland and Furness.
Who we arelooking forWe're seeking a highly organised andproactive individual with experience in technical oradministrative support, ideally within planning, buildingcontrol, or a related regulatory service.
You'll bring:
- Strong technical and administrativeskills, with experience handling complex data and casemanagement tasks.
- A good understanding of planning andbuilding control processes, or a willingness to develop thisknowledge.
- Excellent communication and customerservice skills, with the ability to provide clear advice andsupport to colleagues and applicants.
- Proficiency in using IT systems anddatabases to manage information accurately andefficiently.
- The ability to work independently,prioritise workloads, and maintain attention to detail whilemeeting deadlines.
