PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: Up to £64,000 pro Rata depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.
This role is a 0.5 Job Share.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLEThe Systems specialist is focused on forward looking, proactive work on technology systems. You will work on development and/or projects, planned changes to ensure they are well managed, fit for purpose and safe for the live environment. The role will build and maintain effective relationships with the Operational support teams, technical delivery teams and 3rd party suppliers to ensure system performance and maintain the quality of support to end users.
WHY JOIN THE TEAMCome and immerse yourself in a state of the art broadcast centre at Central Square in Cardiff. This is the first BBC facility to use IP technology across both its production and broadcast Operations, and is one of the largest SMTPE 2110 IP routing systems for broadcast deployed anywhere.
This role specifically focuses on our state of the art Post Production facilities, including 27 Video Editing Suites, three Dubbing Theatres, two Tracklaying suites, three Voice Over Booths and a Colour Grading Suite. All take advantage of the Live IP Core and facility wide IHSE KVM system to access a shared pool of resources. We have fast access Nexus Storage and utilise AVID, VIZ, EVS And Dalet software and tools.
As the Post Production Systems Specialist some of your key responsibilities will be:
• Refining the system architecture (with input into replacement projects, management of upgrades and software releases)
• Providing expertise in resolving escalated incidents including out of hours support
• Improving performance and stability via the removal of underlying problems (proactive and reactive problem management)
• Providing expertise in resolving problems assigned through Problem Management
• Maintaining quality of supporting service (monitoring tools, training, knowledge management, managing 3rd party support)
Our Systems Specialists provide systems expertise across a range of media technology systems. The Systems Specialist role is responsible for the overall performance and configuration of the systems assigned to them. Systems Specialists will advise Tech Support teams and production teams on the most appropriate course of action for a specific system or range of systems. Systems Specialists are responsible for ensuring support teams are appropriately trained and have adequate knowledge and documentation on their system. The Systems Specialist is recognised as a major contributor to the support organisation.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCEIn this role you would diagnose and trouble shoot AVID system issues and manage complex problems
You should also have a good working knowledge and understanding of Macintosh systems with in depth experience of working on broadcast/IT systems in a live TV or multi-media environment
In depth Knowledge of AVID Media Composer
In Depth Knowledge of AVID Pro Tools
AVID Certified / Accredited
Solid Experience supporting EVS
In Depth knowledge of ADOBE SUITE
Good knowledge of Hyperconverged environments using VMWare
Experience Supporting Remote Edit Workflows
Experience in networking, storage systems, operating systems and hands-on systems engineering
