Job Description

On behalf of DWP, we are looking for a Senior Solution Architect for a 12 Month (Inside IR35) contract based Hybrid in Blackpool, Leeds or Newcastle.

Core Purpose

As a Senior Solution Architect, you will provide strategic technical leadership across a portfolio of projects within the Bereavement and Care Directorate. You will be responsible for designing scalable, cloud-based solutions that align with enterprise architecture standards, while simplifying complex technical concepts for a wide range of stakeholders.

This role requires a strong communicator who can bridge the gap between technical and non-technical audiences and lead architectural discussions at governance forums.

As a Senior Solution Architect your main responsibilities will be to:
. Lead the design and delivery of cloud-native solutions, primarily on AWS.
. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure solution designs meet user needs and technical standards.
. Present architectural designs and recommendations at governance forums.
. Produce high-quality technical documentation and design artefacts.
. Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture, digital blueprints, and product roadmaps.
. Advocate for microservices and event-driven architectures where appropriate.
. Support the reduction of technical debt and architectural complexity.
. Translate complex technical concepts into clear, accessible language for diverse audiences.

Essential:
. Strong experience with cloud technologies, particularly AWS (Azure experience is a bonus).
. Proven ability to present technical solutions at governance forums and secure approvals.
. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
. Experience working collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
. Proficiency in technical authoring, including the creation of design and specification documents.
. Experience in application architecture design, including microservices and event-driven architectures.
. Familiarity with relational and NoSQL databases, such as MongoDB or DocumentDB.
. Experience working in Agile delivery environments.
. Ability to align solutions with enterprise architecture standards, digital blueprints, and product roadmaps.
