Job Description

Senior Full Stack Engineer - Ruby on Rails/React
Remote-first (must be UK-based)
£70,000 - £80,000

About the Role

A fast-growing sports tech company is looking for a Senior Full Stack Engineer with strong Ruby on Rails experience and solid React skills to help shape the future of their product platform. This is a remote-first role, ideal for engineers who want the flexibility of working from home while staying connected through occasional in-person team sessions (once a quarter in Edinburgh).

As part of a small, collaborative product team, you'll be building and improving features that serve a large and passionate user base. You'll have a real voice in product direction, own technical decisions, and contribute directly to user success.

What You'll Do

  • Design, build, and maintain robust Back End services using Ruby on Rails.
  • Develop dynamic, responsive user interfaces with React (and occasionally React Native).
  • Work closely with Product, Design, and Customer Success teams to understand user needs and deliver impactful solutions.
  • Lead and participate in architectural and strategic technical decisions.
  • Write clean, maintainable code and clear technical documentation.
  • Mentor junior engineers and support team growth.
  • Take part in user conversations to inform development priorities.
  • Continuously improve tools, processes, and performance through iteration and feedback.

What We're Looking For

  • Extensive experience with Ruby on Rails in production environments.
  • Proficiency with React (React Native is a plus).
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a remote environment.
  • Proven ability to work independently, take initiative, and own projects end-to-end.
  • Comfortable translating technical goals into user-focused outcomes.
  • Enthusiastic about collaborating with non-engineering teams and speaking with end users.
  • A genuine interest in mentoring others and contributing to a positive engineering culture.

Why Join?

  • Remote-first working with only minimal travel (once per quarter to Edinburgh).
  • The opportunity to work on meaningful products that impact real users.
  • A supportive, fast-moving team where your input shapes the product.
  • A culture that values autonomy, transparency, and continuous improvement.

We are an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons regardless of race, sex, disability, religion/belief, sexual orientation, or age.
