Senior Social Worker / Advanced Practitioner Family Services - Children's Disability TeamBarnet CouncilRate: £37.54 per hour (Umbrella) £27.32 PAYEHours: 36 hours per weekWorking Pattern: 1-2 days in the office plus home visits (hybrid working) The Role Barnet Council is seeking an experienced Senior Social Worker / Advanced Practitioner to join their Family Services - Children's Disability Team. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled practitioner who is confident in managing complex cases, supporting children and young people with disabilities, and providing leadership within a statutory setting. Key Responsibilities
- Manage a complex caseload of children and young people with disabilities.
- Undertake Child and Family Assessments in line with statutory requirements.
- Lead on Child in Need, Child Protection and Looked After Children cases where required.
- Provide high-quality supervision, mentoring and practice support to less experienced social workers.
- Contribute to strategy discussions, core groups and multi-agency meetings.
- Complete robust assessments, care planning and court reports where necessary.
- Promote strength-based practice and positive outcomes for children and families.
- Work collaboratively with education, health and partner agencies to ensure coordinated support.
- Qualified Social Worker (Social Work England registered).
- Significant post-qualified experience within Children's Services in Local Authority settings (3 years Perm)
- Experience working within a Children with Disabilities or 0-25 team is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding, statutory legislation and care planning processes.
- Confident in managing risk and supporting complex family dynamics.
- Ability to provide leadership and promote high standards of practice.
- Competitive rate of £37.54 per hour (Umbrella).
