Salary: £35,000-£45,000 depending on experience

Job Type: Full-time, permanent

A newly created opportunity has arisen with an established and growing traffic design consultancy and data collection business following the award of a major new project in the North of England.

As part of this expansion, my client has opened a new office in Stafford, which will become the central base for the successful Senior Site Technician.

This is a hands-on field-based role combining equipment installation, site work, technology and data. You will install and remove traffic survey equipment, check installations, download and manage survey data and help ensure projects run smoothly.

The role

  • Install, check and remove traffic survey equipment across the UK.
  • Install battery-powered CCTV cameras, traffic counters, ANPR and other monitoring equipment.
  • Use power tools and work at height where required, following appropriate safety procedures.
  • Drive a company van to survey locations, with some overnight stays and occasional travel further afield.
  • Download, manage and check survey data before returning it to the office.
  • Carry out site checks to ensure equipment has the correct visibility, angle and coverage.
  • Read maps, site plans and installation instructions accurately.
  • Complete installation/removal photographs and site records.
  • Identify and report issues with access, equipment positioning or survey coverage.
  • Support junior technicians and work closely with the Operations Manager to resolve issues and improve delivery.

The successful candidate should have:

  • Experience working in a field-based technician, installation, highways, utilities, traffic survey, CCTV, construction or similar role.
  • A full UK driving licence.
  • Confidence driving a small company van.
  • Good practical skills and confidence using tools.
  • Ability to work at height and climb ladders safely
  • Good understanding of maps, site plans and location-based instructions.
