As a Senior Signalling Design Engineer, you are responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining our Signalling solutions for projects and products. You will contributing to architectural and key design decisions to ensure our Signalling solutions meeting the requirement of our customer. You are required to provide support to junior team members through application of mentoring and coaching techniques.

This is a hybrid role, where our minimum expectation is that you will be on site 2 days per week - primarily from a base location in Stratford, but with the opportunity and sometimes necessity to work across London.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable Signalling solutions that meet the needs of our clients and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, define project scope, and develop technical specifications.
  • Lead architectural discussions and make recommendations on technology and tools. Engage with supply chain to develop understanding of product offerings that can be applied to our solutions
  • Design and develop Signalling solutions using industry best practice.
  • Undertake the role of Designer as identified in the CDM regulations, with particular attention to design risks. Ensure that safety risks are designed out or deemed "as low as reasonably practicable.
  • Troubleshoot issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
  • Provide independent peer review and checking (where licensed to do so) of Signalling designs.
  • Mentor junior engineers, providing guidance on Signalling design principles, engineering techniques, and best practices.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies, trends, and industry best practices, and apply them to enhance our Signalling solutions.
  • Understand, define and lead the project delivery processes, methodologies, and use the defined tools as set out in the GTS Management System and the project specific Engineering Management Plans.
  • Support Work Package Managers with timely provision of status, accurate measurement of progress and forecasting of remaining work and by identifying change, variation, risk and opportunity to the work package manager wherever the scope of works is impacted
  • Where appointed, act as WPM and lead the Signalling team operationally.
Technical Skills and Experience
  • Extensive experience in Signalling development, with a strong understanding of Signalling standards, principles and methodologies.
  • Proven experience in designing and developing complex Signalling applications from concept to production.
  • Solid understanding of Signalling architecture and design patterns.
  • Has a sound ability to use design tools to produce complex designs.
  • Be able to define and manage configuration control
  • Experience working in an Engineering environment and understanding with ability to define of engineering delivery methodologies.
Human Skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • A passion for learning and staying current with new technologies and industry trends
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and coach junior engineers.
Qualifications
  • 1.1.550 and 1.1.160 Signalling Designer IRSE License.

We aim to complete a two-stage interview process. Your first interview will be a technical competency based interview and presentation and will be held in-person at our Stratford office. The second stage interview will focus on behavioural competencies.
