SummaryAs a Senior Service Engineer, you will act as a technical authority within the Service team, providing advanced diagnostics, driving service process improvements, and mentoring junior engineers. You will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and precision of Hexagon Metrology's high accuracy measuring arms, while contributing to the continuous development of service standards and best practices. This is an on site role based in Milton Keynes with no travelling required.
Job Responsibilities- Technical Leadership: Serve as a subject matter expert on service and support for Hexagon Metrology's portable hardware, leading complex calibration, repair, and maintenance tasks. Provide guidance and training to less experienced engineers to elevate team capability.
- Advanced Diagnostics & Problem Solving: Lead fault diagnosis to module and component level, producing detailed technical reports and implementing long term corrective actions to improve system performance and reduce recurrence of failures.
- Service Process Improvement: Identify and implement improvements in service workflows, documentation, and tools. Contribute to developing best practices for fault analysis, repair procedures, and calibration methods.
- Systems & Data Management: Ensure accuracy and integrity of service activity records within the ERP system (Servicemax). Use service data to identify recurring issues, propose solutions, and support predictive maintenance strategies.
- Technical Customer Communication: Act as an escalation point for complex customer service cases, ensuring accurate technical communication, realistic timelines, and authoritative guidance on resolution strategies.
- Quality, Health & Safety: Uphold and continuously reinforce Hexagon Metrology's safety and quality standards, promoting a culture of compliance, precision, and excellence across the service function.
- Engineering Expertise: Recognised qualification (e.g., HNC/HND, BTEC, or formal apprenticeship) or equivalent technical experience in engineering, ideally with a focus on precision equipment.
- Hands On Technical Depth: Proven background working with high value capital equipment, combining mechanical and electronic diagnostic skills. Experience with metrology or precision instruments is highly desirable.
- Leadership & Mentoring: Demonstrated ability to mentor colleagues, transfer knowledge, and lead by example in technical problem solving.
- Continuous Improvement Mindset: Experience driving service process improvements, standardisation, and best practice implementation.
