SENIOR SECURITY MANAGER - HAMPSHIRE - £80 - £85K + BENEFITS
The Opportunity
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Security Manager/Deputy Programme Manager to join a major Instrumented Live Training Area Weapon Effects Simulation (ILT-A) programme during a period of significant growth and capability development.
This is an excellent opportunity for an established Security Manager, Security Assurance Manager, Information Security Manager or Cyber Security professional who is looking to broaden their responsibilities into programme management within a complex and highly regulated defence environment.
Reporting to the Programme Manager, you will act as the programme lead for Security Governance, Risk and Compliance, ensuring that contractual, regulatory and business security requirements are effectively implemented, maintained and assured throughout the programme life cycle.
Alongside your security leadership responsibilities, you will support programme governance, planning, scheduling, reporting and delivery activities, providing a genuine opportunity to develop towards a broader Deputy Programme Manager position.

Essential Experience
The successful candidate will have a strong background in security management within Defence, Aerospace, Critical National Infrastructure or another highly regulated environment.
You should have:
- Demonstrable experience in Security Management within a complex and regulated environment.
- Strong experience implementing Security Governance, Risk & Compliance frameworks.
- A strong understanding of Defence Standard 05-139 Security Risk Management.
- Experience supporting security assurance, audit and accreditation activities.
- A good understanding of MOD protective security requirements and contractual security obligations.
- Experience maintaining and managing security risk registers and risk treatment plans.
- Knowledge of Information Security and Cyber Security frameworks, including ISO 27001, NIST, Cyber Essentials and CAF.
- Experience providing security advice to programme, project and engineering teams.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage effectively with customers, suppliers, internal teams and assurance authorities.
- Experience producing high-quality reports, briefings, governance papers and management information.
- A sound understanding of programme and project management principles.
- The ability to operate effectively in a complex, multi-stakeholder defence environment.
- Strong communication, influencing and problem-solving skills.
Desirable Experience
The following experience would be advantageous:
- Previous experience as a Security Manager, Information Security Manager, Company Security Officer or Security Assurance Manager.
- Experience working on MOD programmes subject to DEFCON security requirements.
- Knowledge of Secure by Design and Secure by Default principles.
- Experience supporting security accreditation and assurance processes within MOD environments.
- Experience using Primavera P6, MS Project or equivalent scheduling tools.
- Previous experience supporting or deputising for a Programme Manager.
- Experience working across multiple projects or workstreams within a programme environment.
- Membership of a relevant professional body such as the Security Institute, CIISec, APM, PMI or INCOSE.
- Degree qualification in Security, Cyber Security, Engineering, Programme Management or a related discipline.
The Person
You will be a confident and credible security professional who can operate at both strategic and operational levels.
You will be comfortable advising senior stakeholders, challenging decisions where appropriate and translating complex security requirements into practical actions. You will also have the commercial and delivery awareness to understand how security requirements interact with programme objectives, budgets, schedules and operational priorities.
The role would particularly suit someone who has established themselves as a Security Manager or Security Assurance professional and is now looking to take the next step towards Programme Management.
