Senior Research Midwife/Team Lead

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Senior Research Midwife / Team Lead within the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Research Delivery Team. The position is based in the Obstetrics and Gynaecology department within the University Hospital of Wales. The post holder will be responsible for the line management of the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Research Team, and for the overall coordination and delivery of the Obstetrics and Gynaecology research portfolio.

We are seeking candidates who have prior experience of research delivery and/or specialist clinical knowledge within this area, who are passionate about driving forward research objectives, leadership, and delivering high quality research opportunities for patients within the service.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications
  • Registered Midwife/Nurse or Healthcare Equivalent
  • MSc or equivalent knowledge and experience
  • Evidence of continued professional development
  • Use and dissemination of research findings
Experience
  • Significant experience at band 6 in a research role
  • Extensive and proven experience of clinical research managementExperience in submissions to regulatory bodies for research
  • Specialist knowledge within Midwifery or Gynaecological nursing
Skills
  • Leadership skills - evidence of ability to support/mentor junior staff
  • Advanced organisational skills and ability to run a portfolio of projects at differing stages of development
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Evidence of contribution to research publications
  • Ability to appraise junior staff through performance reviews
Special Knowledge
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the ethical, organisational and regulatory environment in which clinical research is conducted
Personal Qualities
  • Enthusiastic and highly motivated, able to motivate others
  • Good evidence of time management skills - able to plan and work to agreed time scales and multitask effectively
  • Ability to prioritise workload
