Blackrock Health Galway Clinic is seeking experienced and motivated Senior Radiation Therapists to join our Radiation Oncology team. The roles are available on a temporary basis for 12 months, 35 hours per week.

The successful candidates will play a key role in delivering high-quality, person-centred radiotherapy services, supporting advanced treatment techniques, and contributing to the ongoing development of the department.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the Senior Radiation Therapists will provide clinical leadership, support service improvement initiatives, and assist in the supervision and development of radiation therapy staff.

The role
  • To work in a multidisciplinary environment to effectively deliver radiotherapy services and contribute to the wider delivery of the department's objectives.
  • Demonstrate clinical reasoning and knowledge in the assessment and treatment of patients.
  • Demonstrate evidence-based practice through decision making.
  • Follow current best practice guidelines.
  • Ensure that the Radiotherapy service delivered to patients meets departmental standards of practice.
  • Participate in discussion with Radiotherapy colleagues on clinical practice issues.
  • Maintain accurate information systems for clinical data in accordance with departmental and hospital policies.
  • Conduct on treatment assessment of patients.
  • Assessment of treatment plan.
  • Act as an advisor and educational resource to students.
  • Participate in ongoing in-service training programme under the direction of the Clinical Specialist.
  • Keep abreast with current developments in clinical practice by attending seminars, conferences and post-graduate courses and complete all mandatory CPD requirements.
  • Participate in clinical audit activities to monitor clinical standards.
  • Ensure effective communication occurs with colleagues, professionals from other backgrounds and patients & their families.
  • Communicate sensitive information sometimes in the presence of barriers to good communication.
The Candidate
  • Bachelors Degree in Radiation Therapy or Recognized equivalent qualification.
  • CORU registration.
  • 3 years post qualification clinical experience.
  • Have proven Clinical & Customer Care skills.
  • Ability to work comfortably in multi-disciplinary teams, working closely with both clinical and administrative staff.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels.
  • Flexibility in work practices.
