Job Description
Senior Quantity Surveyor - Galway
DOE: €75 - €90k
OverviewOur client is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their team based in Galway. The successful candidate will work closely with the commercial and construction teams to ensure successful project delivery.
Responsibilities- Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates, budgets, and tender documentation for commercial projects.
- Conduct thorough quantity take-offs and cost planning to ensure accurate project costing.
- Coordinate and oversee the procurement process, including subcontractor and supplier selection, negotiation of contracts, and adherence to procurement policies.
- Administer and manage construction contracts, reviewing terms and conditions, assessing variations and claims, and ensuring contractual compliance.
- Monitor project costs, analyze expenditure, and implement effective cost control measures to ensure projects are delivered within budget.
- Collaborate closely with the design and construction teams to identify value engineering opportunities and propose cost-effective alternatives.
- Provide guidance and support to junior quantity surveyors and other team members, fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and suppliers to ensure effective communication and resolution of any commercial issues.
- Keep on top of industry trends and changes in regulations.
- Degree in Engineering, Construction or a related field.
- 5+ years' experience working as a Quantity Surveyor, ideally in main contracting
- Previous experience in commercial management, contract administration and cost control
- Strong knowledge of subcontractor account management and procurement processes.
- In depth understanding of Irish construction regulations, standards and best practices.
- Proficient in excel; experience with Cubit, Procore and Asta is an advantage.
- Excellent negotiation, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
