Job Description
Role - Senior Quantity Surveyor
Location: Home based with travel to sites across London
We're looking for a proactive and collaborative Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead the commercial delivery of a major scheme or a portfolio of smaller projects across the London region.
Responsibilities- Promoting and championing a safe working environment across all project activities.
- Preparing subcontract documentation and leading negotiations on terms, pricing and programme.
- Managing subcontract work packages, including interim assessments and change management.
- Issuing commercial notices to clients and subcontractors in line with contractual requirements.
- Managing change effectively and preparing Compensation Event Quotations.
- Preparing, submitting and agreeing monthly applications for payment with the client.
- Working collaboratively with engineering and operational teams to ensure accurate site records.
- Producing and presenting monthly Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs) and detailed commercial reports.
- Maintaining robust forecasting, tracking and monitoring of all project expenditure.
- Managing subcontractor liabilities and using Oracle based cost systems to monitor performance.
- Reviewing and interpreting internal expenditure reports with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Leading weekly progress and risk reduction meetings with clients and subcontractors.
- Acting ethically and professionally, applying the principle of "Doing the right thing" to maximise value responsibly.
- Providing contractual insight and support to estimating and bid teams when required.
- A relevant degree or substantial experience in a commercial role within construction.
- Experience managing large individual schemes or multiple smaller projects.
- CSCS card (appropriate to role).
- A solid understanding of standard forms of contract.
- Good IT skills, including Excel, Word and cost/contract management systems (CEMAR, Oracle).
- Effective communication, stakeholder management and negotiation abilities.
- A good understanding of construction processes and project delivery.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Professional membership (MCIOB/MRICS) or working towards it is desirable.
