Mott MacDonald's Advisory and Programme Delivery (APD) unit delivers PPCM services and advisory solutions across built environment, defence, energy, water, environmental, transportation, health and care sectors.
Environment & WaterMultidisciplinary experts help water and wastewater organisations find sustainable, cost-effective solutions to challenges of climate change, net zero, water scarcity and environmental protection.
We work with about half of the UK's regulated water and wastewater companies, providing support from pre contract cost estimating and benchmarking to post contract quantity surveying and commercial assurance.
We deliver capital projects ranging from several hundred thousand pounds to major programmes worth over £0.5bn.
Overview of the roleAs the Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will manage Client and Mott MacDonald obligations on clean and wastewater and environmental projects. You will collaborate with Advisory Project and Programme teams to deliver project deliverables to client expectations. You will drive innovation of service delivery, provide advice, and take ownership of project success through risk and stakeholder management, ensuring good governance.
- Quantity Surveying degree or other commercially related discipline or relevant extensive experience in Programme and Project commercial pre and post contract activities, including all activities associated with Cost Management
- Ideally Chartered MRICS or working towards chartered status (MRICS) and a commitment to CPD (Continuing Professional Development)
- Extensive experience in setting and implementing procurement strategies, developing and executing the procurement strategy including the running of tenders and advising the project team on contract conditions and amendments, especially NEC
- Demonstrable experience in Commercial and Cost standards and procedures, highly developed commercial skills and ability to make sound decisions on matters of significant financial value
- Previous experience of commercial management and administration of a wide range of contracts and all aspects of writing, placing and administering contracts, especially NEC and using CEMAR or similar
- Contract and procurement advice, cost analysis, due diligence, cost control, forecasting and monitoring, cost reporting and post contract management on projects, programmes and D & B contracts, ensuring deliverability within funding envelope and compliance with governance
- Experience in developing a Commercial and Cost Team, establishing clear roles, responsibilities, and accountabilities
- Building and managing strong client and stakeholder relationships and effective communication across project delivery, client, supply chain and stakeholder teams
- Excellent IT, oral and written communication, organisational and analytical skills
- Flexibility in work location, potential travel 2-3 times weekly depending on project
- Experience in water, environment and regulated industries
- Ability to operate autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary commercial support team
- Preferred experience in using electronic measurement systems and other cost and contract management tools
