Senior Quantity Surveyor

Via East Midlands are currently seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Commercial Team based out of our Bilsthorpe Head Office.

Maximising value and efficiency, we oversee procurement, estimating, and quantity surveying to keep Nottinghamshire's highways projects on track.

What you'll do:

Responsible for commercial management and reporting of the project including optimising profit, cash and opportunity/risk.
Price tenders, quotations, estimates and target prices for highway and civil engineering works using manual calculation and electronic system including spreadsheets, databases and estimating systems.
Responsible at Project Team level for avoiding and resolving commercial disputes/disagreements as far as practicable and escalating to the Commercial Manager where appropriate.
Responsible at Project Team level for maintaining excellent commercial relationships with internal / external stakeholders and effective commercial management of contractors. Work collaboratively and closely with other members of the Project Team as required to optimise commercial outcomes for the business.
Proactive tracking of internal and external factors which impact the business and manage commercial aspects of the change control process, budget/CVR process, forecasting, prudent assessment of provisions and invoicing process as appropriate.
Responsible for proactive monitoring commercial project progress, costs, and variations, providing timely CVR and other reports to the Commercial Manager / Director.

What we're seeking:

Degree in Commercial Management / Quantity Surveying or other relevant qualification combined with strong highways and or civil engineering experience.
Significant experience in quantity surveying, budget management, good contractual awareness and adept at identifying risk.
Proven experience in optimising commercial outcomes in accordance with contractual obligations and commercial strategy/processes.
Proven track record of improving profitability, sales and risk position through proactive management of clients and contractors.
Proven track record of undertaking NEC contract commercial management on highway or civil works.
Ability to understand and evaluate technical highway and civil engineering drawings and specifications.
Full Driving Licence.
