BSS is recruiting a Senior Quantity Surveyor on behalf of a well-established building contractor with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality construction projects throughout Leinster.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a growing business and take ownership of the commercial management of projects from pre-construction through to final account. Reporting directly to the Contracts Manager and Company Director, the successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the commercial success of a diverse portfolio of projects.
Key Responsibilities- Manage all commercial aspects of construction projects from tender stage through to final account.
- Prepare and review cost plans, budgets, estimates, and Bills of Quantities.
- Undertake pre-contract cost planning, procurement, and commercial evaluations.
- Manage subcontractor procurement, valuations, payments, and final accounts.
- Prepare monthly valuations, cost reports, and commercial forecasts.
- Monitor project costs and identify commercial risks and opportunities.
- Attend client, contractor, and design team meetings as required.
- Prepare and negotiate variations and change orders.
- Manage interim applications, payment recommendations, and final account agreements.
- Support Project Managers and site teams in achieving project commercial objectives.
- Ensure projects are delivered within budget and maximise commercial performance.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Contribute to the ongoing development and growth of the commercial function.
- Degree qualified Quantity Surveyor or equivalent construction-related qualification.
- Minimum 5 years experience in a Quantity Surveying role with a main contractor, developer, or PQS practice.
- Strong understanding of construction contracts and commercial management processes.
- Proven experience managing project costs from inception through to final account.
- Strong negotiation, reporting, and analytical skills.
- Commercially focused with a proactive approach to problem solving.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet project deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and commercial reporting systems.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Full clean driving licence.
