We are seeking an experienced Senior Python Developer to join the Testing Farm/tmt team. The ideal candidate will have expert-level Python skills and proven experience building distributed architectures, with a strong focus on creating highly reusable and extensible APIs.
This role involves working within a globally distributed, cross-cultural team using Scrum methodologies, contributing to open-source projects that support large-scale automated testing.
Key Responsibilities- Design and develop applications with distributed architecture for the Testing Farm/tmt project
- Create highly reusable and extensible APIs
- Develop and maintain the Test Management Tool (tmt) and Testing Farm platforms
- Coordinate work with distributed teams across public and open-source projects
- Participate in standard Git workflows using GitHub, GitLab, or similar platforms
- Perform root-cause analysis of reported and discovered issues
- Serve as an internal advocate for customers
- Follow secure software development practices
- Design, implement, and test solutions for complex technical requirements
- Expert-level competency in Python with 5+ years of hands-on software engineering experience
- Strong Shell Scripting skills with a solid background in Linux OS
- Proven experience architecting and building distributed systems
- Expertise in developing reusable and extensible APIs
- experience coordinating work within public and open-source projects
- Hands-on experience with standard Git workflows (GitHub, GitLab, or similar)
- High proficiency in technical and professional English communication
- Demonstrated experience following secure software development practices
- Ability to design and implement code and test cases for complex requirements
- experience building applications for software quality engineering environments (eg ISTQB standards)
- experience working in globally distributed, cross-cultural, Scrum-driven teams
- AWS experience, particularly with:
- EC2
- Spot Instances
- AWS Secrets Manager
- experience with containerization technologies (Docker or Podman)
- CI/CD pipeline development and integration experience
- Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code practices

tmt (Test Management Tool) is a test metadata specification and implementation tool designed to support test execution and management.
Together, they form a comprehensive testing ecosystem for software quality assurance.
Projects You Will Work On- Main Project:
- GitHub - teemtee/tmt: Test Management Tool
- Fixing issues blocking RHEL teams onboarding to Testing Farm
- Success measures include:
- Assigned issues resolved
- Merge requests accepted (code, tests, documentation)
- Phased onboarding epics aligned with SST and JIRA labels/queries
- Focus on issues impacting larger teams during onboarding
- Resolve blocker and critical issues enabling RHEL SST to complete Onboarding Phase 2
- Enable automated testing via the Testing Farm dashboard
- Objective to deploy, within one calendar year (June 2025 - June 2026), 20% of Beaker recipes to Testing Farm, broken down quarterly (5% per quarter)
