Senior Python Backend Developer - Contract Role Dublin, Ireland (Hybrid 3 Days Onsite) 6-Month Initial Contract Rolling Extension Start Date: November / December 2026

Stelfox is partnering with a rapidly growing technology organisation in Dublin that is expanding its engineering function and hiring a Senior Python Developer to join a high-performing development team.

This is an excellent opportunity for experienced software engineers who enjoy building scalable backend systems, cloud-native applications, APIs, and distributed services that support business-critical platforms used by thousands of users.

You'll play a key role in designing, developing, and improving modern software solutions while collaborating closely with engineering, product, architecture, and delivery teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Designing and developing high-quality applications using Python
• Building scalable REST APIs and microservices
• Developing cloud-native and distributed solutions
• Collaborating with Product Owners, Architects, and Engineering teams
• Translating business requirements into robust technical solutions
• Improving performance, reliability, and scalability across platforms
• Participating in architecture discussions and technical decision-making
• Supporting CI/CD initiatives and engineering best practices
• Conducting code reviews and maintaining high development standards
• Mentoring other engineers and contributing to a strong engineering culture

Required Experience

• 5+ years of commercial Python development experience
• Strong experience with Flask, Django, FastAPI, or similar frameworks
• Proven experience designing and developing RESTful APIs
• Strong SQL and relational database expertise
• Experience building scalable backend and distributed systems
• Solid Linux/Unix environment experience
• Experience with Git and modern software development practices
• Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools such as Jenkins, Ansible, or similar
• Strong understanding of software design principles and engineering best practices
• Experience working within Agile development environments
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
