Job Summary:

The role involves being a key member of the senior clinical team, providing mentoring to less experienced prosthetists, graduates, and students. The prosthetic department at Queen Mary's Hospital includes a multidisciplinary team comprising prosthetists, orthotists, consultants, nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, a psychologist, and other referring teams. The successful candidate will work closely with this team to enhance service delivery. The role emphasizes patient-centered care, innovation, and service development. Additionally, the candidate will utilize evidence-based practices and participate in clinical audits aligned with clinical governance standards.

Opcare has provided prosthetic services in Roehampton since 2008 and has recently renewed the contract. This role offers an excellent opportunity to improve service delivery. Key reasons to join us include:

Key Responsibilities & Tasks:
  • Use various shape capture methods for fitting and delivering prostheses efficiently.
  • Mentor students, graduates, and apprentices.
  • Support colleagues with less experience.
  • Treat all patients with dignity, keeping them informed about their treatment.
  • Lead by example to motivate the prosthetic team to meet patient and business objectives.
  • Assist with reporting tasks alongside the clinical lead.
  • Help the team achieve KPI targets.
  • Collaborate with the Workshop Manager to address quality issues and minimize waste.
  • Accurately record patient details and process orders using IT systems like REHAPP.
  • Set objectives with your manager and report on progress regularly.
  • Work within HCPC ethical guidelines.
  • Engage in continuing professional development and maintain your CPD portfolio.
  • Participate in clinical audits.

Skills & Personal Attributes:
  • Proven experience as a Prosthetist working with various limb differences.
  • Upper limb experience is preferred but not essential.
  • Committed to high standards of patient care.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Diplomatic and assertive as needed.

  • Full DBS clearance.
Qualifications:
  • BSc in Prosthetics & Orthotics
  • Certified Prosthetist/Orthotist
  • HND in Prosthetics

Must be fully HCPC registered.
