Job Description

Senior Project Planner

My client is seeking an experienced Senior Project Planner to take ownership of integrated project scheduling across complex, multi-disciplinary Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) engineering projects. This role is critical to the successful delivery of major pharmaceutical, healthcare, data centre, industrial, and commercial construction projects.

The successful candidate will be responsible for end-to-end programme development, planning, forecasting, progress monitoring, and schedule risk management across the full project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain, and control detailed project schedules using Primavera P6 (or equivalent planning software).
  • Produce fully integrated programmes covering Pre-Construction, Construction, Commissioning, IST, Validation, and Handover phases.
  • Develop commissioning, IST, and CQV programmes aligned with project requirements.
  • Identify critical and near-critical paths, implementing mitigation and recovery strategies where required.
  • Monitor progress using Earned Value Management (EVM), milestone tracking, and physical progress measurement.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly planning reports including critical path analysis, float analysis, delay analysis, and forecast completion updates.
  • Proactively identify, assess, and manage schedule-related risks and opportunities.
  • Lead planning workshops, progress reviews, and programme coordination meetings with key stakeholders.
  • Develop and manage resource-loaded programmes and labour/resource forecasting.
  • Provide variance analysis and performance reporting to support project decision making and corrective actions.
  • Work closely with Project Managers, M&E Engineers, Construction Teams, Commissioning Teams, Clients, and Consultants.
  • Ensure alignment of programme activities with procurement schedules, long lead equipment, and phased handovers.
Requirements
  • Relevant third-level qualification in Engineering, Construction Management, or Mechanical & Electrical discipline.
  • Minimum 6+ years' experience in a Senior Planning or Project Controls role on large scale construction or M&E projects.
  • Strong Mechanical & Electrical building services experience is essential.
  • Experience with multi-package contracts, phased delivery, commissioning, and CQV environments.
  • Expert level proficiency in Primavera P6 and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret M&E drawings, schematics, and commissioning documentation.
  • Excellent analytical, organisational, and communication skills.
  • Strong stakeholder management and ability to operate in fast paced project environments.
