Job Description

Lead the delivery of complex rail projects of regional and national significance across Ireland, including heavy rail, light rail and metro schemes. Ensure projects are delivered safely, to a high standard of quality, on programme and within budget.

Act as the principal point of contact for clients throughout design and construction phases, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, and manage requirements, budgets, schedules, risk, contracts (NEC3/NEC4) and change control.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams through project meetings and targeted workshops, ensuring critical issues are resolved promptly.
  • Establish robust project management processes and governance in collaboration with client teams.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships and influence teams to deliver successful outcomes.
  • Produce monthly project reports, forecasts and data led insights for senior stakeholders.
  • Lead engagement with internal and external stakeholders, including regulators, local authorities and community groups.
  • Chair project meetings, presentations and progress reviews.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations and respond to concerns effectively.
  • Manage contracts, budgets, cost forecasting, change control and financial performance.
  • Handle change, risk and delay events, ensuring appropriate mitigations are implemented.
  • Proactively manage early warnings, RFIs and communications to reduce risk.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Strong safety leadership, driving compliance with Irish safety legislation and regulations, including Project Supervisor Design Process (PSDP) and Project Supervisor Construction Stage (PSCS) duties where applicable.
  • Commitment to environmentally responsible project delivery aligned with WSP's sustainability values.
  • Proven experience defining project scope, objectives and deliverables with clients and stakeholders.
  • Ability to develop and manage detailed project plans covering programme, budget, resources and risk.
  • Accountability for project performance, identifying issues early and implementing corrective actions.
  • Track record of delivering complex rail or transport infrastructure projects in Ireland or comparable regulated environments.
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary design and construction teams on client side or consultancy led commissions.
  • Degree in engineering, construction management, project management or related discipline.
  • Chartered status with, or working towards, membership of a relevant professional body (Engineers Ireland, APM, PMA).
  • Project management qualifications (APM, PMI, PRINCE2, MSP, Six Sigma) are advantageous.
  • NEC4 Project Manager accreditation is highly desirable.
  • Collaborative, curious and solutions focused mindset, with a strong client service ethic.
Location and Working Arrangements

Based in one of our modern offices in Naas, Dublin, or Belfast with an expectation of working in the office a minimum of three days per week. Site visits will form part of the role as required.
