An opportunity has arisen in Bournemouth for a Senior Project Manager to join the team at Galliford Try within our Environment Business.
Working on Wessex Water's £3.7bn AMP8 framework, you'll manage multiple high value wastewater projects across Dorset, as part of the Galliford Try high performance team with a track record of delivering schemes of varying sizes across the water industry.
What you will be doing- Assume responsibility for the management of project delivery outputs including programme, financial position, health, safety, environmental performance and progress for all allocated schemes.
- Manage staff at varying levels, providing leadership, staff development, retention of key personnel, interviewing, recruitment and mentoring of more junior staff.
- Interact professionally with senior representatives of our clients.
- Understand NEC contract conditions and maintain astute commercial awareness.
- Manage multiple concurrent projects across the Framework to ensure successful delivery against project KPIs and PIs.
- Ensure all projects are delivered in accordance with current Health & Safety regulations, including CDM regulations and environmental legislation.
- Review and assess in house/subcontractor RAMS, Process Impact Assessments and environmental legislation.
- Ensure compliance with all company safety, environmental and quality systems.
- Liaise with client staff to ensure KPIs are met or exceeded within budget constraints.
- Manage the project team, clarifying objectives, roles and responsibilities.
- Assist the Regional Manager with the utilisation of direct labour resources across projects where possible.
- Assume responsibility for the financial performance of the portfolio of projects with overall responsibility for Profit/Loss on contracts under the Framework.
- Produce project performance reports and participate in monthly financial and programme reviews with the Commercial Manager, Head of Delivery and Regional Director.
- Ensure compliance with all company commercial and financial procedures.
- Complete contract documentation; establish and agree price variations and final accounts.
- Prepare estimates and quotations & provide tender vetting for others.
- Develop a detailed project programme in conjunction with the project planner to drive the project to key deliverable milestones; ascertain preliminary and detailed design/project requirements and solutions.
- Liaise closely with other departments such as tendering and design to ensure resources are correctly allocated and client requirements are fully achieved.
- Take an active role in developing new opportunities within the Framework and lead in pre construction tenders to ensure project delivery has input into the tender process.
- Co ordinate and liaise with suppliers, specialist subcontractors, in house functions, site installations and construction teams.
- Ensure procurement of plant, materials and specialist subcontractors is carried out in a timely manner and best value is achieved.
- Ensure project resources are available for factory site and works testing, commissioning and client training.
- Attend internal and external review and progress meetings.
- Attend site visits and meetings.
- Ensure all contract documentation such as "As built" drawings, commissioning manuals and operation and maintenance manuals are prepared in line with client specifications and Galliford Try/client closeout timescales.
- Industry applicable ONC/HNC/B.Eng or NVQ equivalent.
- Health & Safety qualifications (desirable).
- IOSH or CITB 5 day Site Safety Management (SMSTS).
- CSCS card.
- Demonstrable experience with NEC suite of contracts.
- Demonstrable experience within the water and/or sewage industries.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft packages.
- Strong team player and able to work independently.
- Ability to prioritise a varied workload and demonstrate good time management to meet deadlines.
- Able to work in a busy environment under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills (email / phone / face to face).
- Can do attitude and willingness to support other team members.
- Ability to review options and make decisions for project success.
