The Opportunity

We are supporting our client in the appointment of a Senior Project Manager to lead the safe, compliant and profitable delivery of multi disciplinary civils and construction projects within rail infrastructure environments.

This is a senior leadership role accountable for full project lifecycle delivery, from initiation and design coordination through to construction, possession management, handback and close out. The successful candidate will take ownership of programme control, CDM compliance, commercial performance and stakeholder management across multiple concurrent projects.

This role requires strong rail experience, structured governance discipline and visible safety leadership.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the delivery of civils and construction projects within rail infrastructure environments
  • Ensure full compliance with CDM 2015 and UK health & safety legislation
  • Develop and manage integrated project programmes including access and possession planning
  • Implement structured stage gate governance to control risk and readiness
  • Manage project budgets, cost control, change management and forecasting
  • Lead multi-disciplinary project teams including Project Managers, Engineers and Site Managers
  • Oversee subcontractor and supply chain performance across safety, programme, cost and quality
  • Act as primary client interface for project delivery
  • Drive a zero harm safety culture across project teams and supply chain
  • Ensure robust documentation including risk registers, construction phase plans and handover records
What We're Looking For
  • Significant experience delivering civils and construction projects within rail or comparable safety critical environments
  • Strong working knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015 and UK H&S legislation
  • Proven programme management and critical path control capability
  • Commercial awareness including contract management (NEC or similar), cost control and change management
  • Experience managing supply chain partners and subcontractors
  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent experience
  • Full UK driving licence
  • NEBOSH (General or Construction) or IOSH Managing Safely
  • CDM duty holder training
  • Rail competencies such as PTS (or willingness to obtain)
The Environment

This role combines office based planning with regular site attendance, including nights, weekends and rail possessions as required. Travel across project locations may be necessary.
