About the role

The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for the management of a large design project, multiple smaller projects or portfolio of works including project financial and programme responsibility. The role is to manage projects / packages of work, managing a multi disciplined design team alongside a design lead. Carrying out programming and financial management of the design phase as well as undertaking site visits, leading client and internal design and progress meetings and ensuring health and safety is always considered.

Risk management will be a key part of your role, you will identify early potential risks and implement timely solutions to ensure the projects are completed safely, on time, within budget; and monitor the performance delivery to ensure it meets the recognised standards of productivity, quality, and compliance.

  • Developing, implementing and delivering successful outcomes of the design project management plan.
  • Monitor all delivery and financial performance against the programme of work. Identify any early risks and take the corrective course of action to minimise/recover the position against the budget.
  • Planning, co-ordinating and supervising the programme of work, ensuring all work is issued in accordance with the Contract and regularly monitoring progress to ensure successful delivery of work for the client, business and communities. Where necessary, organise collaborative planning sessions, facilitating challenge to durations and opportunities.
  • Coordinating with internal and external clients and design teams.
  • Managing/supporting the design process and ensures quality standards.
  • Managing the risks, resources, and stakeholder communications on single projects or portfolios of work.
  • Attend site and management meetings to inform progress updates and offer expert, responsible and agile solutions to the Client's issues.
  • Leading and executing the change management process.
  • Reviewing and approving deliverables.
  • Leading discussions with stakeholders on project matters.
  • Overseeing and managing the contractual aspects of outsourced design work.
  • Ensuring design work stays on schedule for delivery and aligns with overall project timelines.
  • Compiling project forecasting as required to fulfil contractual obligations.
  • Providing guidance on best methods and practice to meet project requirements.
  • Accountable for embedding sustainability, innovative solutions, and fresh thinking throughout the design process.
  • Ensuring compliance with H&S, CDM and other appropriate regulations.
  • Assessing tender and project requirements and prepare fee estimates for projects.
  • Contributing to the business development process where required.
  • Project administration reporting to line management including monitoring design programme delivery, resources, and budgets.
  • Assist with the development of the Integrated Management System.
  • People managing other project managers or members of staff.
  • Mentoring members of staff including early careers.
