Job Description

As a Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for delivering significant technology and business change initiatives that support Thames Water's strategic goals.

What you'll be doing as a Senior Project Manager
  • Lead and coordinate internal teams and third-party vendors to execute projects flawlessly, meeting time, cost, quality, and outcome targets, including defining statements of work (SOWs).
  • Work semi-independently with confidence, supported by the Programme or Senior Project Manager.
  • Define, baseline, and manage the project scope, plan, resources, and budget to ensure successful delivery aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Communicate clearly with stakeholders via written and verbal updates on project progress and business priorities.
  • Produce and tailor regular project status reports based on stakeholder needs.
  • Identify, assess, and manage risks effectively, utilizing project governance for visibility and escalation.
  • Create and maintain project cost models, challenging costs to maximize value.

Base location: Hybrid - Clearwater Court, Reading

Working pattern: Monday to Friday, 36 hours

What you should bring to the role

Essential

  • Experience with various delivery methodologies, e.g., Agile, Waterfall.
  • Extensive experience in IT project management.
  • Proven delivery of IT projects involving third-party suppliers.
  • Ability to lead internal teams and third-party collaborators.

Desirable

  • Experience in developing and managing third-party suppliers.
  • Knowledge of Agile Project Management and/or Scrum.
  • Prince 2 or equivalent qualification.
