Summary of Role:

As a Senior Project Manager (MEP) within a major nuclear infrastructure programme, you will be responsible for the strategic leadership, integration and delivery of complex Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health (MEP) work packages across the full project lifecycle, ensuring safe, high-quality and commercially successful outcomes.

Leading multidisciplinary teams across engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and handover, you will provide direction and governance to ensure successful delivery of safety-critical systems within a highly regulated nuclear environment. You will act as a senior client and stakeholder interface, driving performance, managing risk and ensuring compliance with nuclear safety, quality and assurance requirements.Working closely with Construction Managers, Engineering Managers, Commercial teams, Supply Chain partners and Project Controls functions, you will provide leadership across multiple project interfaces and contribute to the successful delivery of the wider nuclear programme.

Key Responsibilities: Project Leadership & Delivery

• Lead the successful delivery of complex MEP projects and integrated work packages within a nuclear environment.
• Develop and maintain Project Execution Plans (PEPs), delivery strategies, governance arrangements and key project controls.
• Ensure projects are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the required quality and nuclear assurance standards.
• Drive project performance through proactive programme management, risk-based decision making and effective stakeholder engagement.
• Manage project lifecycle activities from concept, design and procurement through construction, commissioning and final handover.
• Lead project performance reviews and implement corrective actions where delivery performance falls below expectations.
• Manage key project interfaces to minimise disruption, optimise sequencing and ensure successful integration of MEP systems.
• Ensure the project delivery is executed in line with Dalkia Way and the Dalkia engineering governance requirements

Team Leadership & Resource Management

• Lead and develop Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers and wider project delivery teams.
• Create a collaborative, high-performing and accountable project culture aligned to nuclear safety principles.
• Develop project capability through mentoring, coaching and professional development.
• Ensure effective workforce planning, resource forecasting and deployment of suitably qualified and experienced personnel.
• Promote knowledge sharing, continuous improvement and lessons learned across project teams.
• Ensure appropriate succession planning and capability development within the project organisation.

Stakeholder & Client Management

• Act as a senior client-facing representative for MEP project delivery activities.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, regulators, consultants, contractors, suppliers and key project stakeholders.
• Lead project governance meetings, delivery reviews and strategic planning discussions.
• Ensure effective communication of project status, key risks, opportunities and critical decisions.
• Manage stakeholder expectations and maintain alignment with programme objectives and delivery milestones.
• Support collaborative working across multiple programme interfaces and organisations.

Engineering, Construction & Commissioning Integration

• Provide strategic leadership across the delivery of mechanical systems, electrical systems, HVAC, pipework, public health systems and associated infrastructure.
• Ensure effective coordination between engineering, design, procurement, construction, testing, commissioning and operations teams.
• Manage design maturity and ensure engineering outputs support safe and effective construction delivery.
• Support resolution of complex technical, programme and logistical challenges across project interfaces.
• Ensure constructability, operability, maintainability and commissioning requirements are embedded throughout delivery.
• Support commissioning, system turnover and handover activities to ensure safe and efficient transition to operations.

Commercial & Risk Management

• Manage project budgets, forecasts, cost performance and financial reporting.
• Identify, manage and mitigate project risks and opportunities through effective governance and assurance processes.
• Lead change management activities, ensuring robust control of scope, schedule and commercial impacts.
• Support NEC contract administration, compensation events, early warnings, variation management and dispute resolution where required.
• Ensure project objectives remain aligned to commercial commitments and programme outcomes.
• Drive value improvement initiatives whilst maintaining safety, quality and delivery performance.

Quality, Safety & Compliance

• Champion the highest standards of health, safety, environmental and nuclear safety performance.
• Promote and embed a strong nuclear safety culture, including a questioning attitude and continuous improvement mindset.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, licence conditions, quality management systems and project procedures.
• Work closely with Quality, Safety and Assurance teams to achieve project objectives and maintain nuclear quality standards.
• Support supplier audits, surveillance activities, inspections and regulatory interventions.
• Drive improvements in quality performance, right-first-time delivery and assurance compliance across project teams.

Minimum Qualifications/ Experience:

• Degree, HNC or HND in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 10 years' experience delivering major engineering, infrastructure or construction projects.
• Proven track record managing large-scale MEP projects within highly regulated industries such as Nuclear, Energy, Defence, Rail or Petrochemical.
• Demonstrated leadership experience managing project teams and direct reports.
• Professional Project Management qualification such as APM PMQ, Prince2 Practitioner or equivalent.
• Strong understanding of MEP systems, construction delivery, commissioning and project lifecycle management.
• Experience managing project budgets, programme controls, risk, change and commercial performance.
• Strong stakeholder management and client-facing experience.
• Working knowledge of NEC contracts and CDM Regulations.

Desirable Qualifications/ Experience:

• Nuclear sector project delivery experience.
• Experience delivering safety-critical systems within major infrastructure programmes.
• Chartered Engineer, Chartered Project Professional or working towards professional registration.
• Knowledge of nuclear quality assurance requirements and graded approach methodologies.
• Understanding of commissioning, system turnover and operational readiness processes.
• Experience working within highly regulated environments requiring extensive governance and assurance controls.
