Project Manager - Copper Wire Replacement Project

Location: Mostly Remote (Occasional Travel to West Midlands Office)

Contract Type: 3-Month Contract

Rate: £600 per day (Inside IR35)

Our consultancy client is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead a high-profile Copper Wire Replacement Project. This initiative focuses on the upgrade and replacement of legacy copper infrastructure with modern solutions, ensuring improved reliability, performance, and long-term sustainability.

This is a predominantly remote role, with occasional travel required to the West Midlands office and potentially to stakeholder or delivery sites as needed.

THE ROLE
  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of the Copper Wire Replacement Project from initiation through to completion.
  • Define project scope, objectives, timelines, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Develop and manage detailed project plans, budgets, risk logs, and resource allocations.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams including technical specialists, vendors, and third-party suppliers.
  • Ensure effective governance, reporting, and stakeholder communication at all levels.
  • Identify, manage, and mitigate project risks and issues.
  • Oversee change management and ensure smooth transition into business-as-usual operations.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry, safety, and regulatory standards.
YOU

The Project Manager must have prior experience of:

  • Proven experience delivering a copper wire replacement programme previously.
  • Demonstrable track record of managing complex, multi-stakeholder programmes.
  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, PRINCE2, Waterfall, or hybrid approaches).
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • Strong commercial awareness and budget management experience.
  • Ability to manage remote teams effectively.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to the West Midlands office.
  • Experience within telecommunications, utilities, or large-scale infrastructure environments.
  • Relevant project management certifications (PRINCE2, PMP, APM or equivalent).
  • Experience working within consultancy environments.
