Job Description

We are looking to appoint a Senior Project Engineering Consultant (French Speaker) with strong Process Engineering expertise to lead project based initiatives and deliver clearly defined technical and execution outcomes across major projects. The role will be primarily based at our client's headquarters in London, with occasional travel to West Africa to support agreed deliverables.

Applicants should have solid experience with onshore, producing brownfield assets and a proven track record of driving projects from concept through execution. This includes providing technical leadership, ensuring successful delivery, and aligning project objectives with broader business goals.

Candidates must have prior experience working with an Oil and Gas operating company, along with exposure to projects in both the Middle East and Africa. Experience in both site based and office based roles is essential.

This is a consultancy engagement structured around a defined scope of work, milestones, and deliverables. The contract is for one year, with the possibility of renewal, and will be classified as Outside IR35 for UK based contractors.

The role is open to UK and EU nationals. EU based candidates may work remotely from their home country, with travel to required locations as needed.

Fluency in French is a mandatory requirement.

Scope of Services & Key Deliverables
  • Delivery oversight for a defined portfolio of complex capital projects across one or more assets, ensuring alignment with agreed technical, commercial, and schedule objectives.
  • Coordination of multi disciplinary engineering inputs to support project execution, without assuming line management responsibility for client's personnel.
  • Execution of feasibility studies, concept selection, pre FEED, FEED, and detailed engineering activities, including development of the Basis of Design, project philosophies, and technical specifications.
  • Technical review, checking, and acceptance of process engineering deliverables produced by external engineering consultancies, including designs, drawings, calculations, and technical data, ensuring compliance with applicable international standards and codes of practice.
  • Preparation of cost estimates, execution strategies, and project plans covering all project phases, with defined assumptions, risks, and contingencies.
  • Advisory support to client relating to resource planning, including identification of specialist skills required to achieve project outcomes within agreed timeframes.
  • Monitoring and control of project performance against agreed scope, schedule, budget, and quality benchmarks, with early identification of risks and delivery impacts.
  • Identification, assessment, and mitigation of project risks and change events, with preparation of clear recommendations to support decision making.
  • Engagement with external vendors and contractors, including technical evaluations, support to commercial negotiations, and advisory input to procurement decisions.
  • Review and approval of engineering design changes and technical deviations in line with project governance.
  • Contribution to the development and refinement of engineering execution methodologies, standards, and lessons learned to support continuous improvement in project delivery.
  • Advisory support during installation, commissioning, testing, and handover activities, as required to meet defined project completion criteria.
Consultant Experience & Capability Requirements
  • A recognised Engineering degree in Process Engineering or a closely related discipline, supported by 10+ years of project based experience within the Process, Petrochemicals and/or onshore/offshore Oil & Gas sectors.
  • Proven capability to independently develop brownfield and greenfield project designs across conceptual, FEED, and detailed engineering phases, coordinating inputs across multiple engineering disciplines.
  • Extensive working knowledge of national and international engineering standards and codes of practice commonly applied to oil and gas treatment facilities.
  • Demonstrable experience providing technical leadership and influence across matrixed project environments, engaging senior stakeholders without reliance on positional authority.
  • A strong record of analytical and creative problem solving, delivering technically robust solutions within complex operational and commercial constraints.
  • Proven experience supporting vendor selection and contract negotiations, including technical clarification and evaluation of supplier proposals.
  • Experience preparing engineering cost inputs and budget estimates, and providing commercially informed recommendations where project scope, risks, or assumptions change.
  • Fluency in French is a mandatory requirement.
