Location and Working PatternHybrid role based in Dublin, with flexible working options and occasional travel to European project sites.
Client OverviewOur client is a well-established engineering consultancy recognised for delivering innovative and technically challenging projects across the data centre sector. Their team combines deep technical expertise with a forward-thinking approach to engineering solutions.
Responsibilities- Lead the design, specification, and delivery of electrical building services upgrades within live data centre environments.
- Develop and manage retrofit-specific design strategies, incorporating system tie-ins, outage planning, and resilience design.
- Conduct or oversee technical due diligence on existing facilities, including capacity unlock assessments.
- Prepare and review detailed electrical design drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Manage project scope, budget, and programme while mitigating risks and live-environment constraints.
- Act as a key point of contact for clients and contractors, ensuring seamless project delivery.
- Mentor junior engineers and support their professional development.
- Drive innovation in live-environment engineering and continuous improvement of retrofit delivery models.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 8 years' experience in building services engineering, with at least 3 years in mission-critical or data centre projects.
- Proven track record in delivering electrical upgrades within live operational environments.
- Expertise in LV/MV power distribution, UPS systems, busbar upgrades, and standby generation.
- Strong knowledge of IEC, CIBSE, BS, IS, and EN standards, plus familiarity with commissioning procedures.
- Chartered Engineer status (or working towards it) is an advantage.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit MEP, Bluebeam, and ETAP/Amtech/DIALux.
- Experience with BMS/EPMS integration and smart building systems.
- Familiarity with Irish and EU building regulations and energy efficiency standards.
