We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Production Engineer to join our engineering team and work on the world's first nanopore DNA sequencer. This role is ideal for someone passionate about innovative technology.
The DetailsReporting to the Associate Director of Production Engineering, you will collaborate with executive management and contract manufacturers to define and develop assembly and production processes. You will lead product and process validation efforts and participate in designing and implementing assembly fixtures. You will facilitate the development of internal and external production processes, establish and maintain production quality standards for new and existing products, and seek continuous improvements to enhance quality and reduce costs.
Other responsibilities include:
- Providing manufacturing engineering support to the Engineering Design and R&D teams, and coordinating the transfer of new products into manufacturing, considering manufacturability and process efficiency.
- Collecting and analyzing data to ensure manufacturing processes sustain high yields.
- Identifying production issues and applying systematic problem-solving methods.
- Creating and maintaining controlled documentation such as process flows, drawings, specifications, routers, BOMs, and work instructions.
- Optimizing manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and lower costs.
You should hold a degree in mechanical engineering or a related field, with significant industrial experience, preferably in highly regulated industries such as medical or aerospace. Experience in manual and automated manufacturing, especially with lean initiatives, is essential. Experience establishing and validating pilot production lines, performing FMEAs, and validating medical device processes is highly desirable. Strong technical skills should be complemented by excellent communication and documentation abilities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Project, Excel, Visio) is required, and familiarity with SolidWorks is advantageous.
