Location: Galway, Ireland. Employment type: Full-time regular. Reference ID: 7459.

Datavant is the data collaboration platform trusted for healthcare. Guided by our mission to make the world's health data secure, accessible and actionable, we provide critical data solutions for organizations across the healthcare ecosystem-including providers, health plans, researchers, and life sciences companies. From fulfilling a patient's request for medical records to powering the AI revolution in healthcare, Datavant's team is building the future of how data is connected and used to improve health.

About the Role

We're looking for a Senior Product Designer to lead design for a high impact product area focused on managing large-scale operational workflows across legal and insurance domains.

This role sits at the intersection of complex processes, high volume transactions, and operational efficiency. You'll define how users manage, prioritize, and execute work across thousands of orders, requests, and tasks-designing systems that help teams stay organized, reduce manual effort, and operate effectively at scale. You'll help users answer questions like "What needs attention right now?", "Where are the bottlenecks?", and "How can I access what I need with ease?".

You'll lead design for a critical product area while partnering closely with product, engineering, operations, and domain experts. From queue management and bulk actions to workflow automation, prioritization, and operational visibility, you'll create experiences that enable users to confidently manage growing volumes of work without increasing complexity. Your work will shape the systems and patterns that allow our platform to scale alongside our customers' needs.

Why This Role Matters

This role will shape the systems our users rely on every day to manage large-scale workflows. The experiences you design will directly influence how efficiently teams prioritize work, resolve exceptions, track progress, and deliver outcomes across thousands of transactions. Small improvements in usability, visibility, and automation can have an outsized impact on productivity, turnaround times, and customer satisfaction.

As the design lead for this area, you'll help define how our platform scales-not just technically, but operationally. Your work will establish the patterns, workflows, and user experiences that enable customers to handle growing demand with greater speed, accuracy, and control.

What You'll Do Lead Product Design & Strategy
  • Frame ambiguous problem spaces in legal and insurance domains, defining clear design solutions.
  • Shape the experience direction for workflow automation and order management.
  • Translate complex statuses and data into intuitive, trustworthy user experiences.
Drive Cross Functional Alignment
  • Influence product direction through strong design leadership and rationale.
  • Facilitate alignment across product, engineering, data science, and domain stakeholders.
  • Lead design discussions, navigate tradeoffs, and resolve disagreements constructively.
  • Partner with legal/insurance subject matter experts to ensure domain accuracy and usability.
Own Outcomes in Complex, Ambiguous Spaces
  • Make high-quality experience decisions with incomplete information.
  • Balance short-term delivery needs with long-term product vision.
Champion User-Centered, Data-Informed Design
  • Conduct user interviews and research to validate direction and explore areas of opportunity.
  • Develop a deep understanding of user workflows (e.g., claims processing, underwriting, legal review).
  • Ensure design decisions clearly tie to user value and business impact.
What We're Looking For
  • 6-8+ years of product design experience, with ideally experience managing other designers (but not required).
  • Proven experience leading design for complex or data-heavy products.
  • Strong systems thinking and ability to design for complex workflows.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence product strategy and cross functional decisions.
  • Comfort operating in ambiguity and driving clarity.
  • Strong communication and storytelling skills.
  • Experience, comfort or interest in utilizing Claude and similar tools to enhance your work.
  • Experience in regulated domains strongly preferred.
Benefits
  • Competitive, equitable salary.
  • Comprehensive benefits.
  • Pension contribution.
  • Flexible, hybrid work environment.
